Activist Billionaires Finally Loved by Liberals

Hypocrisy is annoying and very insulting to those who have a longer attention span than a nat. For the last 4-5 years we have heard how terrible the Koch brothers are, they are destroying America, liars is a term used often, shadow political operatives and so, these are the nicer things said about them. I guess liberals hate Stain-Master carpeting, its a Koch brother product.

Billionaire Koch brothers, bad, billionaire Tom Steyer, good. Why? Well, silly, he is donating $100,000,000 in 2014 to climate change causes and candidates. Basically he is the antithesis of the Koch brothers, but since Tom is supporting a liberal cause this blatant interference in democracy is OK, according to liberals. I am serious, a Twitter response to me states this, here is is:

@ Amy_ETKind @s_demonte @chrislhayes Repug billionaires, buying pols just to feather their own nests, are BAD. Dem ones for common good are GOOD. #Inners

Because I am sure Tom Steyer doesn’t have any carbon or climate solutions based investments. You heard Amy, any liberal, even the rich ones, are in it for the people with no agenda whatsoever. I have no idea who Tom Steyer is, I don’t really care either, and I don’t know what he does or if he makes money from climate change things… I don’t even care that he is spending $100M on democrats, its a waste of money, but it’s his to waste and that is the difference between sanity and liberals. Sane people say, whatever, but crazy liberals think they are buying elections, corrupting democracy unless they are supporting a cause they like, its fine then.

Here is the thing, look at all the money spent by Mitt Romney and all the outside groups during the 2012 election. Did it buy Romney the election? No, because people make up their own mind, they are just wrong sometimes. I am not stupid, money does influence elections and I want change in that area, but it is not the sole actor. If you have a candidate that will say and promise everything, free stuff or, as I call Obama, Santa Claus and on the other side you have common sense ideas about the economy, taxes, etc., but no more free stuff, whose gonna win?

Granted, Mitt was flawed, but it really didn’t matter who the GOP put up Obama had it. Remember in 2008, Obama promised everyone something? Go look at his videos, here’s a minor list of the big ones off the top of my head:

He was ending wars,

Close GITMO,

Send Wall Street to jail,

Reforming government,

Fix social security and Medicare,

Fix the mortgage industry,

He was gonna spread the wealth around,

and no for my favorites:

Change Washington DC to work for the people,

Unify the parties,

Have open debates about laws on C-SPAN,

Make sure we have a completely open and transparent government, and

He was going to walk on water, heal the sick and usher in 1000 years of heaven on Earth… wait, that’s the other Messiah.

THAT is why Obama won, because people hear what they want, remember what hey want and someone spending $100M or even $1B may, possibly, influence the election, but its unlikely. The reason why the guy with the most money wins the presidency is because that person is usually the unofficial favorite in the race, often times the outright favorite. Therefore, saying this guy is buying the election is a farce, period, people just like him/her more and they are going to win. The “money advantage”is a case of correlation does not imply causation, look at all those cliches.

What I find annoying is that now the left has a(nother) billionaire they are all of a sudden fine with Citizens United. They bitch and moan that the Koch brothers buy elections when they may not have a pair of as wealthy people as the Koch’s, but they do have Bloomberg, Soros, Steyer and a few other billionaires mixed in with their large multimillionaire groups out of NYC and Hollywood. Not to mention they own the media, all of it, so my heart doesn’t break for them.

1 set of very wealthy brothers does not offset all the other assets democrats have traditionally had, I forgot about unions, which can raises millions overnight. Sure, the GOP has some deep pockets, but nothing like what the democrats have enjoyed for years. Hell, if a big time actor even admits they are conservative, let alone give them money, they are given a hard time. I believe it was Matt Damon or his friend Ben who said that he doesn’t know any conservative actors but is inclined that if he did he would not like them…tolerance anyone? No, we only have to be tolerant of what you tell us to be tolerant of? Sounds about right…

What these hypocrites haven’t realized yet is that even with all of their money and their perceived power/popularity, which is in their heads, they haven’t convinced most voters to go to them. Sure, Santa Claus Obama won, but the house is solidly red and the senate is competitive, don’t even say the districts are rigged, what bull that is, so the people aren’t buying what you are selling liberals. The straight up hypocrisy of the left is so blatant it is sickening and conservatives have to rub their noses in it as much as possible.

Tom Steyer can spend his money, with the rest of his Wall Street friends,d it here, it may work in some areas, but America, so far, is still sane which means the GOP is coming back. Oh, its funny that the GOP is pegged as the bankers party when democrats raise more money from them than the GOP go read the link a sentence up..
