You Might be a Racist If…

I was reading my new favorite site tonight and came across this picture, see below, that claims if you suddenly became interested in politics in 2008 you are probably a racist. What kills me is that they, progressive liberals, put this crap out there and then expect you to extend them some respect or common courtesy. What they fail to realize is that with Obama’s job performance ratings hovering at 40% that means there are plenty of whites who voted for him that do not like what he is doing. Are they racists? No, they just aren’t seeing his massive promises, remember he promised everything under the sun to everyone, come to fruition. However, these, I would guess independent voters, are in our position now… being called racists.

I have, generally, always voted conservative mostly because I never liked the democratic candidates. Look what I had to choose between, Clinton, Gore, Kerry and Obama or, a pervert, a bore who invented the internet (I know he didn’t say it, but it’s funny), a pompous bore and the amateur. I have voted democrat before in congressional races and local politics, but you know those people better. I am not a new comer to the conservative movement and, in my opinion, most Tea Party people or now politically active people aren’t new conservatives either.

What happened in 2008 was a rare event, a financial crisis beyond the scope of what anyone thought was possible and the excitement of a new guy who really seemed to be a change candidate. Now, most people realized Obama was saying whatever he had to say or promise to get elected but some in the middle really believed him. I admit I hoped he was the real deal, but the pragmatist in me knew better. These rare events meant a big win for the amateur who was, in my view, clearly overwhelmed by the job since he has never had a hard job in his life. How else can a 50 year old look so good? All these people in the middle got caught up and went with him, believing in him. After the first year there was the backlash of conservatives who leveraged the midterm elections and threw the democratic house majority out on their rears after they hammered healthcare through.

It wasn’t the blackness of Obama’s skin that caused the Tea Party to rise; it was that he passed the most sweeping healthcare overhaul ever, changing everything, during the blackness of the night. There was no real debate and all that hope, change and transparency stuff went right out the window. It went downhill from there for Obama as the people who elected the GOP wanted his agenda stopped. The funny thing is that I have no doubt Boehner would have worked with Obama, but it was Obama’s inability to work well with others, Obama’s idea of compromise is that everyone agrees he is right, but how did he start out… “John, the election is over and I won…”

As his first term ended it was clear he was full of poop to most people which is why Romney thought he had the 2012 election won. However, Americans are funny and many just don’t understand how we work, including us. Romney should have won, Obama had lost a step, his record wasn’t good, the economy was rocky at best and the president looked tired. What happened is what happens a lot in America, the incumbent won. Bush won in 2004 and he was hated, but Americans decided to dance with the devil they knew and that is what I believe happened in 2012.

Now, with Obama at 40% approval, which is basically the democratic base, odds are he will lose in the midterms again. This time he may lose the senate, but don’t count your chickens because incumbents win more than they lose, especially in America when an incumbent wins 90% of the time, scary, right? The left is once again leaning hard on the race card, which must have been the topic at the last liberal news media meeting that was just held at the Whitehouse. For some reason the liberals seem to think the more they call their detractors racists the better the odds of them winning in the next election. I disagree though and believe this behavior will backfire in a huge way.

They are not simply calling the guy dressed up as Ben Franklin at a Tea Party rally a racist now. They are now calling your uncle Wally at thanksgiving a racist because he is sick of being out of work, seeing his utility bill go up and he had to sell all of his stocks to pay his mortgage. Uncle Wally is a fair minded guy who simply wants what is best for his family and had now decided Obama’s policies haven’t helped him. Especially since he has to buy that health insurance he can’t afford. To call uncle Wally a racist is akin to saying apple pie isn’t American because Uncle Wally is married to an African-American!

You can’t call middle America out as racists when they are the same ones how voted for you, twice, and not expect to have long-term ramifications. Why in the world would Uncle Wally ever vote for another minority candidate again? If you agree with him you are part of the solution, but once their policies don’t work out for you and you disagree with them you are all of a sudden a racist. They doesn’t fly anywhere in America, sorry. What happens when a woman runs for office? If I disagree with her am I a misogynist?

I realize it may be fun to have your opponent on the ropes because once you are called a racist you can’t attack, you are too busy defending, but it is doing damage. I say let them call us racists, we know it’s not true, and the more we stop fighting it the harder they will go after us. It will get so out of hand the media will crack down, I mean, look at it already, burning cross with the KKK, it’s hard to get any worse. The repercussions will last a while, I think, because people remember being called horrible names and as they get older they remind their kids and grandchildren how awful it was to be called a racist merely because you disagreed with the man’s policies.

Let them do their worst, like I said, it’s almost there and even know I more or less let it go when they throw out the inevitable insults. It’s sad really, you and I know the exact terms they will use it’s like they have an operating manual or something, so beat them to the punch, let the awful comments roll off your back. Let them know, if you keep this up you will lose the independent votes next time around. I remember the same arrogance from the hardcore 40% Bush supporters, where are they now(?), and this is following the same path. It crushed the GOP and I am sure it will crush the progressives for at least 2 terms.

We just need our own amateur to shake things up, better yet a Condi Rice would be great, a black woman, how could a progressive not vote for her regardless of her politics! The funny thing is, they think conservatives would never vote for someone who is black let alone a black woman which is ridiculous and we know simply isn’t true. Let them think they know us, things are looking better than you think.
